Different colours.
Shared values.
One Britannia.
A love of football. A belief in Freemasonry.
An opportunity to build something that lasts.

More than a meeting.
Rivals on Saturday.
Brethren for life.
Whatever your club, division or connection to the game, there’s a place for a shared passion.
Britannia Football Lodge is a proposed new Masonic lodge for Northants & Hunts, bringing together brethren who love football — from the grassroots touchline to the biggest stadiums. We want to build a welcoming lodge where good-natured banter sits alongside friendship, meaningful charity and high standards of Freemasonry.
With experienced brethren, structured mentoring and mutual support, our ambition is to help every member play a full part in lodge life and progress at their own pace.
Britannia embraces the whole football family: professional, semi-professional, non-league and grassroots football, including players, coaches, referees, administrators, volunteers and supporters. No single club or league should dominate our identity.
The lodge is in formation. Meeting arrangements, fees and formal approvals are still to be confirmed. Our intended base is Kettering Masonic Centre. We propose Friday lodge meetings followed by Saturday non-league match visits within the Province, where fixtures and logistics allow. Exact dates, frequency and final arrangements remain to be agreed with Province.
Not another title.
A lasting commitment.
Being a founder is not a notch on your belt. It is a promise to turn up, do your part and help build a lodge that will thrive long after its first meeting.
Read the Founders’ PledgeA team with
something to give.
Football gives us common ground.
Freemasonry gives us a common purpose.
Friendship beyond the final whistle
Match-day trips, football quizzes, a relaxed festive board and lifelong friendships. All club colours welcome; respect is non-negotiable.
Every member has a part to play
Experienced mentors, thoughtful ceremonial preparation and support through lodge offices. We aim for high standards without losing the enjoyment.
A positive impact in our community
Charity five-a-side, walking football and memorabilia auctions are among our ideas for supporting Masonic causes and local grassroots football.
Help us build
the lodge’s future.
We are looking for committed brethren, not a list of names. If you share our values and can give your time, effort and enthusiasm, we would like to hear from you.
Apply to become a founder Read the pledge. Consider the commitment. Then put your name forward.I am not merely joining a Lodge;
I am helping to build its future.
Before you put your name forward.
Do I have to support a particular club?
No. The proposed lodge is for brethren who love football, whatever team they follow — including those who simply enjoy the game.
What does becoming a founder involve?
Regular attendance, diligent preparation, support for fellow members, mentoring, charity and social life. The full Founders’ Pledge sets out that responsibility. Office holders additionally commit to at least 75% attendance and succession planning.
Are the meeting dates and costs confirmed?
Our intended base is Kettering Masonic Centre, with proposed Friday lodge meetings and Saturday non-league match visits. Exact dates, frequency, final meeting arrangements, dining and subscriptions remain to be agreed with Province and the founding group. We aim to keep the lodge affordable and sustainable; match visits depend on fixtures and practical arrangements.
Who can apply to be a petitioning founder?
You must be a Master Mason regularly registered under UGLE. There is no general requirement that every founder be a Past Master or have held Office. At initial sign-up, you only acknowledge that you will need to provide full details of your current/former lodges and Rule 175 certificates later. The founding team will request those securely and verify eligibility and certificates before including a brother in the petition.
What if I’m not yet a Master Mason?
The founder application is for Master Masons regularly registered under UGLE. If you are not yet eligible, please speak to your own lodge or use UGLE’s information about becoming a Freemason instead. This form is not an application for initiation.
Do I need my Rule 175 certificates before applying?
No. Initial sign-up asks only for an acknowledgement that you understand and agree to provide your current/former lodge details and Rule 175 certificates when requested later. There are no lodge-history fields, certificate-readiness questions or certificate uploads at this stage. A certificate from every current and former lodge, showing that you are not indebted to it, must be provided and checked before you are included as a petitioning founder. The online application and typed pledge are not the formal petition. See UGLE’s Book of Constitutions, Rules 94 and 175.
Does submitting the form make me a founder?
No. It records your application and pledge for review. Founder status and any appointment to Office remain subject to discussion, eligibility and the lodge’s formal formation process.
